<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Bristol has been lacking a good crab house for years, and finally Carol has taken one for the team and taken residency within The Old Butchers. But here's what I really think of Carol's Crab Kitchen...</span><br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">Look at these bad boys – soft shell crab burgers served with their 'sexy' chips.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDesc0NXrz7mROnAeroQ8gKB_-iR7fWiJ8RpbQFaiVLyF5EnVumExAzgH8ghvs6g9UYK9FcL_oyHUOjf3ZDmfWMRE8_FYfM-n8KvmzzQ1IDTtwMTjb3c2Ey3BCez4hRUztMtVWlUVqL3WH/s640/Carols-crab-kitchen-bristol.JPG" width="640" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">The burger was absolutely delish, but not sure the chips warranted the term 'sexy', however they were tasty nonetheless. </span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">We had a side of barbecue chicken wings too, which were mouthwateringly tasty and had a yummy crispy coating. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWQ2__ckZq3Tz0gsN1jiJo2G1Do07uLnsYMyFS1YfE-EarrLLf3ZbyJyLqLhvtfKEfVpT0jCxx23lS0eRgXAhA7x_0Oukg6uLoYPDRlY5sTKRmOkTVrtVmJsG1fv5Q3gGHMsdUK-k7hxKc/s640/Carols-crab-kitchen-old-butchers.JPG" width="640" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">I'd </span>recommend<span style="font-family: inherit;"> heading down to Carol's Crab Kitchen as soon as you can – especially if it's a Thursday, as they serve a weekly sharing seafood boil. The hot pot is full of claims, mussels,</span><span style="font-family: inherit;"> </span>langoustines, sausage and veggies.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">On a side note, I absolutely love Carol's logo and packaging, it's so cool! </span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Have you been yet? Or know somewhere else that does good seafood? Let me know in the comments below.</span></span><br />

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqvQl7fLt6vAHbt3Fl3ZRGrWWZHihlC9CdQtDeIiksyQshPzRvRvJr6PkEY1Lif36tq-v1RL900r1XGRAcJnE4t22DAGf1TifwBidQqKp-pwpRJioPj3hfxkCWHAms3CtnGVDTvfYlYVtL/s640/italian+bristol.JPG" width="640" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">I've been raving about this Italian restaurant ever since I got back from my first visit last week. In my opinion, it's one of the most authentic and delicious Italian restaurants in Bristol. Here's why.</span></span></div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj37rN5R8XyfM7z7i8663VMCJkyPCO1Kh8S66f3t5cEok6VoGXp8XbSsorWPuY2HvUskVczzjbLZN6ET1Wz6WdMfdZFETKjClo5sIzN5g7lQGn6jqGemBx_EBkICs51W1Sj2lcs-heCfX10/s640/Alfresco+italian.JPG" width="640" /></div>
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">The restaurant opens its doors wide on summer days and with it's beautiful decor, and friendly Italian staff it's difficult not to feel </span><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">transported to the mediterranean.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">We could decide what to get, so ended up ordering a few things; fresh bruschetta, sausage, leak and tarragon pasta as well as mushroom and salami pizza. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtOIu1QrxXpDo0qyPCvFQ7K1yv2GoNCAWHH1IWxNnmQ_AzMex-ZTnOWkDlj6fFhEMp2Iip24U7ZdVvcguSAo8OielVDke5b6jJGJJCdIv8yh0z_8U-6kihdsK8MR5rPi-EVBl52OkseQ_P/s640/Bruschetta.JPG" width="640" /><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikUGmNdL01aSc1hukUkr-z4EEKLqti5_VeUGKEzaFJTcZ-VzNLviXGwzDZYYWa7CcEAuEAD_su5bOVh9dGo0m4Mlm4MtgUZ5OOHaAA-sIiLwZ1DAyfZG_K-d2wNgI057alAvr1mepal1sO/s640/bristol+food.JPG" width="640" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Everything was fantastic. We couldn't resist trying out their puds too, so shared the duo of desserts; </span></span><span style="font-size: large;">tiramisu <span style="font-family: inherit;">and </span></span><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">panna cotta. Both delicious, but I definitely had more than half of the coffee delight. </span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Have you been? I'd love to hear what you think, or if you've been to a great Italian. Share your thoughts in the comments, or <a href="https://twitter.com/LuchiaUK" target="_blank">tweet me</a>.</span></div>

<img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4lEVvYXTQu9Zg_Adx_M8_208ySFsv37FsnZTcL5mJUZrEzgVLeTNvB85MVBPvgaF2HRKQV7x5iegrg-JaqD8KDhXKbLOArPhdOs-FNaY8zwTiDfrYVLST7S-mfe0CTQUtKFCehToLJ66X/s640/Oreo-milkshake.JPG" width="640" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">I'm a bit obsessed with milkshakes – I find it difficult to resist them 99% of the time. Plus, knowing how easy they are to make from scratch really hasn't helped.</span></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">This milkshake is my favourite by far homemade, or served elsewhere.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">All you need is for two glasses:</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">100g Oreo biscuits</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">4 scoops of vanilla ice cream </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">100 – 200ml milk (depending on how thick you like them)</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Method:</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">1). Add all your ingredients into a blender and mix until the Oreos and ice cream has completely broken down into the milk.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">2). Serve :)</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Have you made any milkshakes recently? Share your flavours below! I made my vanilla ice cream from scratch – see some of my <a href="http://www.luchiacooks.com/p/sweet-recipes.html" target="_blank">ice cream recipes</a> here.</span></div>

<img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_sA-YGOeZlwspOu7Q931NPfHYfwJgDqQuKu-RuVzzC8hUB9I-ig4gfSrp76JDStzcpiFPLqXr2-8nNkWiqPE1Qz_zeNRy0NuPF1RE_v2fEo6N005NjuXUem-9mza9l92eqVkq77qeATar/s640/Mars+bar+cake+recipe.JPG" width="640" /></div>
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Forget tiffin, this baby will be your new and improved fridge cake – trust me. Perfect to serve to friends, or keep for yourself with a nice cuppa. </span><br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5cWHtPKTv3rtyFR-_LPCguFOxIx1vQeN5PMy20YuqSy-wnK0ASvs8EU1VPyLQ8p4ezsgiUOMC2kiKjzRreuArhfTmyZSFXbu7YKvbALfWc3gzJBVv4i06QnI7hzEqJ_Py2T_8ARRC3TFm/s640/mars-bar-cake.JPG" width="640" /></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">You will need:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">6 standard size Mars Bars</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">2tbp golden syrup</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">85g butter</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">250g rice crispies</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">100g raisins (my special twist on the classic)</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">300g Galaxy chocolate</span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Method:</span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">1). Melt the Mars Bars, golden syrup and butter over simmering water. Be patient as it's important you don't burn the mixture.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">2). Once the mixture is completely smooth, fold in the raisins and rice crispies until well mixed.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">3). Line your tray with cling-film and add your mixture into the tray. Make sure all areas of the tray are full with the rice crispies with no gaps. Leave in fridge overnight to set.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">4). Melt chocolate over simmering water until smooth. Once it's broken down to a liquid, poor over the set mars bar mixture and put back into the fridge to set (at least 7 hours). </span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">5). Cut into triangles and serve.</span></span><br />

<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">For those times when I'm too impatient to wait for McDonalds to bring out their spring McFlurry, I've my own recipe for no-churn Cadbury Cream Egg ice cream.</span><br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">You will need:</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">300ml double cream</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">175g condensed milk</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">2tbsp salted caramel liqueur</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">As many Cream Eggs as you can get your hands on (ideally 3 or 4)</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Method:</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">1). Whisk together the double cream, condensed milk and liqueur until mixture holds stiff peaks</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">2). Crush your cream eggs into various sizes and fold into your mixture</span><br />

<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">3). Freeze for at least 8 hours, then serve.</span><br />

<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">It may be premature, but this cold weather is making me feel very festive. I just couldn't resist whipping up some Nutella hot chocolate – Christmas in a cup!</span>

<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">These jam cookies have the perfect soft but crisp exterior with a sweet raspberry and chocolate centre. To make 12 delicious, follow this simple recipe.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">½tsp salt</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">250g bar of white chocolate, chopped into small pieces</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Jar of <a href="http://www.luchiacooks.com/2015/12/hotel-chocolat-christmas-gift-guide.html" target="_blank">Hotel Chocolat</a>'s white chocolate and raspberry jam</span></div>

<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Method:</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">1) P</span></span><span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">reheat the oven at 180°C</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>

<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">2). Mix the butter and sugar together, once creamed, combine in the egg and vanilla</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">3). Sift in the flour and salt, next add in 150g of the chopped white chocolate</span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">4). Roll into a long, thick sausage shape and cover in </span><span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">cling film. Place into the fridge for 30 minutes to chill</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">5). Once chilled, unwrap your cookie dough and slice into 1-2cm thick cookies</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">6). Place them onto a lined baking tray and with a teaspoon push into the centre of each cookie to create a dip. Then place a blob (</span><span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">technical</span><span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"> term) of jam into each centre with a couple white chocolate pieces</span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">7). Bake for 7 minutes or until the cookies are golden and just setting. </span><span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Feel free to leave for 10 minutes or longer if you'd like them to be slightly harder</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">8). Leave to cool on a rack or serve hot – just be </span><span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">careful as the jam and white chocolate is very hot!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">These cookies store really well and can last up to a week in an airtight container – that's if you've got the willpower! </span><span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Enjoy.</span></div>

<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">The Ivy Clifton Brasserie has landed in Bristol and it's oh so fabulous. Being the first of the Ivy Collection to open outside London, it's becoming the talk of the town.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: x-small;"></span><br /></span>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit;">I was lucky enough to work with the restaurant pre-launch, so have been eagerly waiting for their gorgeous doors to swing open. </span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Trust me when I say, it's been worth the wait. A</span></span><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">s part of the Ivy Collection, the restaurant oozes that 1920s art decor elegance and glamour.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Opening just a few weeks ago, I couldn't wait to book a table and decided to treat my mum. </span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Along with our delicious cocktails, we started off by tucking into a goblet of delicious </span></span><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">arancini (make sure you try these bad boys if you ever visit!</span></span><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">)</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">I had steak tartar to start, and my mum had a watermelon and tomato salad – both really tasty but not necessarily mind-blowing food.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #444444;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh97DN1lx3xDX5HjtFMN8Ux2l-veXHc8ymGaiPu1BjvAGB-ABXvO-GN59nja-7Yw-UauYeKahHL-RTPgTAGCDNT4eMF68ndQeWpEpCZe7bygOAMWMMXvI8k1VxLOJTm6dthgDofIdcA8w4/s640/Ivy-clifton-brasserie-review.JPG" width="640" /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">For our mains, we both ordered ribeye steak. Now these were out-of-this-world and so tender. It might of even been one of the best steaks I've ever had – definitely up their with <a href="http://www.luchiacooks.com/2015/05/a-night-at-ox-bristol.html" target="_blank">The Ox</a>.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">We had our steaks with parmesan and truffle chips (YUM!) and zucchini fries. The fries weren't as nice as the chips as they were quite over-seasoned and slightly too salty for us.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #444444;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEPvuTW_Iv66jem0adLSMOqVkI52vtt4L7obWxy78NPsIF8EKyjNXgZ53fufFfMkXCw3bAVVd6I0vKTqhyphenhyphennmtaEQxvWJGploEY8fQXvjIxvuXdOzeOBiENdkMyiAdcNvD7HM3hitHhd2Y/s640/ivy-clifton-brasserie-bristol-review.JPG" width="640" /></span></div>
<br />
<span style="color: #444444;"> <span style="font-size: large;">After a little rest, we pulled ourselves together and got ready for our third and final dishes of the night. </span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-size: large;">I had the lemon baked alaska which was very nice, although I felt it needed another flavour, such as raspberry, to bring another level to the dessert. However it was very tasty and the ice cream within the middle was a lovely surprise.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #444444;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjct0JXCBsnjEnJmC-HPpDnkky-OpTEmYq8QWMeNRuRMLAxCia1WUVIwq9kSdmogj5G1FjfMNkwe3fY6tSyozC3sg-4YxMG1pWSN_BRsPkxUk1m27puWxSwVeV_4IhClKWsUhqddshX8Ac/s640/ivy-clifton-brass-bristol.JPG" width="640" /></span></div>

<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">My mum on the other hand ordered their chocolate bomb, which a member of staff has to pour the salted caramel over the bomb in order for it to change into a bowl - we were very impressed.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">Although the after-math wasn't as elegant as the initial presentation.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #444444;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1_SH7C2TAdo6qenjpsiMsrN1GjrzcwrNRPnN_pdG_J0l3I67hoiWzfjM2CDC0rgaNmIwLdTRp-9tLk1XIHVakkDA-fcuGd_FIOTNBw0F2cbgD_m0dx7nTU7ZFsf43IPu2WjWfgrmBqhY/s640/Chocolate_bomb.gif" width="640" /></span></div>

<br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">The food wasn't 100% perfect, but we had a really lovely time. The service was second to none and we really felt a passion for the food and hospitality from The Ivy Clifton Brasserie.</span><br />

<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">A stack of fresh pancakes is one of my favourite sights. This apple pancake recipe is perfect for breakfast or dessert, depending on what you accompany it with.</span></div>

<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Apple and cinnamon – is there a better combo? The smell of this cooking is absolutely divine and fills the air with an amazing warmth. </span></span><br />
<div>
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">These apple pancakes are surprisingly quick and easy to whip up, making them great for kids to help out with. Plus, without the ice cream or syrup (which is optional), they're pretty healthy too – win, win!</span></span></div>

<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Macaroni cheese, for me, is an ultimate comfort food. So when I heard about a twist on the classic, I had to try it (& it's not just adding prosciutto/leeks).</span><br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">It's a <a href="http://www.bertolli.co.uk/recipes/pasta/?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=lucia-cooks&utm_campaign=L-SEO-Pasta-Outreach_CF1065_BF0099_GB&utm_term=tmw&utm_content=link1" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Bertolli</a><a href="http://www.bertolli.co.uk/recipes/pasta/?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=lucia-cooks&utm_campaign=L-SEO-Pasta-Outreach_CF1065_BF0099_GB&utm_term=tmw&utm_content=link1" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"> pasta recipe</a> so all credits go to them and their delicious dish! But if you'd like to test it out, here's the recipe...</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">FYI, the secret ingredient is mustard and it brings a whole new level of yum to <a href="http://www.bertolli.co.uk/recipe/99398/macaroni-cheese-with-prosciutto-and-leeks/?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=lucia-cooks&utm_campaign=L-SEO-Pasta-Outreach_CF1065_BF0099_GB&utm_term=tmw&utm_content=link2" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">macaroni cheese</a>!</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><i>Ingredients: </i></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">250g macaroni</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">15g Bertolli with Butter</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">1 small leek, chopped</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">40g prosciutto, chopped</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">25g Parmesan cheese, grated</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><i>Cheese sauce</i></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">50g Bertolli with Butter</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">50g plain flour</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">600ml semi-skimmed milk</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">175g mature cheddar cheese, grated</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">pinch English mustard</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><i>Method:</i></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">1). Cook the macaroni by following the pack instructions, then drain.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">2). Whilst the pasta is cooking, in another pan melt 15g Bertolli with Butter and sauté the leek and prosciutto until soft</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">3). Next, make your cheese sauce by placing Bertolli, flour and milk in a large saucepan and bring to boil, whisking continuously until smooth</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">4). Add Cheddar cheese and mustard and stir until both are </span><span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">melted</span><span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"> well into the cheese sauce</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">5). Once cooked, add the macaroni, leek and prosciutto into your sauce and mix well</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">6). Pour mixture into an ovenproof dish and add a layer of grated Parmesan to the top</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">7). Next, place the macaroni cheese under a hot grill until golden brown – at this point it should be bubbling</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">8). It's now ready to serve! You can garnish with some chopped fresh parsley or dried mixed herbs (like me)</span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">Inspired by a backpacking trip, this app enables people to find out about events around them. These happenings range from home-cooked meals, cookery classes and pop-up restaurants. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">A mix between Google Maps, Trip Advisor and Pinterest. It's an app that allows you to browse food being served in restaurants and take aways within close proximity to you. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">Plus, it allows you to read reviews from other users who have already tried it. You can browse cities, restaurants as well as dishes. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><a href="https://ubereats.com/" rel="nofollow">4). UberEATS</a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">'It's Uber, for froyo' – love this! Sadly, its not available in <a href="http://www.luchiacooks.com/p/eats-out.html">Bristol</a> yet, but it is for other cities around the UK. The app is secondary to the taxi Uber app and allows you to choose from a selection of lunch options each day. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">Food is pre-packaged and temperature controlled within each car to ensure speedy deliveries. Uber are also interested in picking up dishes from take aways to deliver straight to your door. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><a href="http://barroulette.cool/" rel="nofollow">5). Bar Roulette</a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">Imagine you're in town, with friends and up for a good night, but can't decide where to go. Well this app, with help from Uber, Yelp and Foursquare, will take you to a highly rated bar within your city. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">But what makes this app so special is that the venue will stay a secret. Instead of revealing the location, an Uber will pick you up and drive you to your next place – you'll find out where, when you arrive! To ensure it doesn't take you to somewhere closed, the app even checks to make sure it's open. Let the adventure begin!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">I hope you enjoyed finding out about these apps as much as I did. Which is your favourite? I can't wait to use Bar Roulette! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">If you know of any other apps worth downloading, add them to the comments below :)</span></div>

<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Method:</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">1). Pre-heat oven to 160C </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">2). Add all ingredients into a <a href="http://www.luchiacooks.com/2013/12/early-christmas-present-product-review.html" target="_blank">food processor</a> and mix until smooth</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">3). Pour mixture into greased/lined cake tin</span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">4). Bake for 1 hour, or until cooked in the centre and golden</span></span></div>

<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">5). Leave to cool. Whilst the cake is cooling, melt white chocolate over boiling water. Once melted, pour the chocolate over the cooled </span></span><span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">cake</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">6). Place the cake into the fridge to let the chocolate set. This should roughly take an hour</span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">The new restaurant has taken over the premises that used to house Caribbean eatery 'Plantation'. </span></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">The inside and out has now been completely transformed. Standing proud with a new bright yellow lick of paint and inside is just the same –</span></span><span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"> flashes of bright and beautiful colours surrounding the place. </span></div>
<br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">I absolutely love the tin shack feeling that Turtle Bay restaurants' have.</span></div>

<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">For
me, the star of the show (excluding the cocktails because they were
amazing!!) were the delicious spicy white bait that you can see above. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Plus, the staff were so lovely and helpful that it made our night even better. We had a great time chatting with the staff, who we can tell have a real passion for Caribbean culture. </span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Amongst other dishes, they'll be
serving up their signature jerk chicken, Caribbean burgers, BBQ prawns and goat curry – so there is something for everyone!</span></div>

<span style="color: #444444;"><img border="0" height="420" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhExtZXD8Bh5tMxCL7B84gbUU9AOppcIbYJZfOd631j5_0WZkV0jwI5I2vPd1QXnWAJGjvmfiQU8nDE7-adEgjjh5zcaunhMjfWF7718marLh5KAHzzlmk7sPyuzzyGl1JvD3L3_cpaCHE/s640/7up-cake-hummingbird-bakery.JPG" width="640" /></span></div>
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">That's right, 7up cake! Thanks to Hummingbird Bakery's book, Life Is Sweet. The soda provides a sweet hum of lemon/lime and makes the cake lovely and light.</span><br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">I couldn't wait to try out Hummingbird Bakery's new book as it's full of wonderfully American recipes from pumpkin classics to boozy bakes.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">There is a lovely mix of recipes from cakes, pancakes, biscuits and pies. Plus, a nice range of difficulty. Some recipes don't require many </span></span><span style="font-size: large;">ingredients or steps, whereas others are slightly more technical – you're sure to find something for you. </span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-size: large;">My first bake from this book had to be the 7up cake – I'd never heard of a cake with soda included before, so had to give it a go! </span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">Their 7up cake, is quite similar in taste to my <a href="http://www.luchiacooks.com/2014/02/extra-moist-lemon-drizzle-cake.html" target="_blank">lemon drizzle cake</a>, but much easier as there aren't as many steps. Keep scrolling</span><span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-size: large;"> for the recipe. </span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPNnYye9uYrKvjV5p6tZ6Mjl2MwGdCmVyncxlsWjdg2Pcd39OOHxLMibJIHKltfQyKoc-KXaKxZrinKJzc7_bOzrJEtRbRepEP4j30wHzqUItWdr8emI3Py7s0G_Aivm75v89GPkMZ_BA/s640/7up-cake-recipe.JPG" style="text-align: center;" width="640" /></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><span style="color: #444444;">You will need:</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">165g unsalted butter, softened</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">320g caster sugar</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">3 large eggs</span></span><br />

<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">1tsp lemon zest (fresh)</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">1/2tsp vanilla extract</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">90ml 7up soda</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">Method:</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">1). Pre-heat oven to 170C fan and cream the butter and sugar together until very light and fluffy</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">2). Add in your eggs and mix well</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">3). Next, gradually mix in the flour, lemon zest, vanilla extract until smooth</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">4). Fold in the 7up soda until it's thoroughly combined. Be careful not to overbeat</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">5). Pour mixture into greased loaf tin and bake for an hour or until golden and cooked in the middle </span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">6). Leave to cool on a wire rack, after a couple hours, it's </span><span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">ready to serve</span><span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"> </span><br />

<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><i>For the cake and filling:</i></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">1). Pre-heat the oven to 170C (fan) and g</span><span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">rease two 30cm circle tins</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">2). Add all the cake ingredients into a large bowl and mix well until smooth</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">3). Divide the mixture between both tins and ensure the </span><span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">mixture<span style="font-family: inherit;"> is level</span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">4). Bake for 20 mins, or until golden and cooked throughout. Leave to cool on a rack until room temperature</span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">5). For the filling, beat the butter and vanilla extract. Gradually add in 140g icing sugar until smooth</span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">6). Spread the buttercream filling over one sponge and jam onto the other and then place the sponges together</span></span></div>

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><i>How to decorate the cake:</i></span></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">7). Roll the yellow icing out until roughly 75mm thick and wide enough to cover the cake. (Sprinkling a bit of icing sugar on the surface will help to stop the fondant icing sticking)</span></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">8). Once ready, roll the yellow fondant icing around the rolling pin to help move the fondant without tearing. Place gently over the cake and roll to cover the whole cake. Gently press the icing to fit it into place</span></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">9). Split the white fondant icing into three equal parts. With the first, add a cap of pink f</span></span><span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">ood colouring</span><span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"> and fold into the fondant until mixed well – feel free to add a bit more colouring until you get the desired pink</span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">10). With the second section of white fondant, add a couple caps of black food colouring and fold until the icing is black all over</span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">11). Split the pink fondant into four balls, to make the ears, flatten two balls and push your little finger (or the blunt side of your knife) until </span></span><span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">the middle and pinch at the bottom. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">To make the nose, flatten the last two pink balls and add three tiny black balls onto each.</span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">12). To make the eyes, using your white icing, roll it into two balls and flatten with your hand (again, depending on how you want yours to look, use less fondant to change the size of eyes)</span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Next, use some of the black fondant to make two slightly smaller sized balls and flatten. Using a knife or scissors, cut a triangle out of the black circles and then place them onto the white circles</span></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">13). With the leftover black icing, make a triangle shape to sit next to the pink balls for the nose</span></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">14). Once you've prepared all the facial parts, add them onto the centre of the cake – apart from the ears.</span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">15). Remove the excess yellow icing by slowly cutting near to the bottom of the cake. Be careful not to go to close to the cake that you see the sponge</span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">16). Beat 300g butter with 2tsp vanilla extract together, gradually adding 600g icing sugar. Once mixed well, add a couple drops of orange food colouring and fold until the colour is the same throughout</span></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">17). Add the buttercream into a piping bag and attach nozzle 30 (if you've got a Tala icing set). Pipe an inch or two away from the face, up to the edge of the cake to create the lion's mane. </span></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">NB: I'd piped the icing using nozzle 30 around most of the cake and left a couple gaps to fill in using nozzle 98 to give a variety of texture – feel free to use whatever you like or have access too</span></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">18). Place the fondant ears onto the piped area at the top to finish of the lion's face</span></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">19). With the leftover orange butter cream, use nozzle 98 and pipe around the edge of the cake at the bottom. I piped straight on to the cake, squeezing a bit of icing out and then stopping and moving on to do the same next to it. This resembled iced gems, but it's you're cake so get creative!</span></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">You will need:</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">1 pack of meringue nests (these last for ages so they're really handy to keep stashed away for times in need)</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">1 punnet of strawberries, or any other fruit you have available</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">350ml double cream</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">1tbsp vanilla extract</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">50g icing sugar</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">Optional: strawberry sauce or/and a handful of berries – great to spruce up the dessert with </span><span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">even more </span><span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">pops of beautiful colour.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">Method:</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">1). Use an electric whisk to mix the vanilla extract and icing sugar into the cream. Stop once the cream is extra thick</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">2). Slice strawberries into quarters and break up meringue into pieces</span></div>

<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">3). Fold fruit and </span><span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">fruit and meringue into cream</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">4). Serve</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">Although this dessert is super simple, I had to share it to celebrate the first day of summer 2016! For me, this treat encompasses everything about the glorious summer season.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">Plus, by mixing vanilla extract and icing sugar into the cream it tastes just like Chantilly cream – the <a href="http://www.luchiacooks.com/p/bake_6.html" target="_blank">ultimate indulger</a> with zero effort!</span></div>

<br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Perfect for any occasion, this cake is a great twist from the fruity classic. It's deliciously light and has a lovely body of flavour.</span><br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">You will need</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">190g plain flour (plus 1tbsp if you're using fruit)</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">2tsp baking powder</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">1/2tsp salt</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">230g plain yogurt</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">215g golden caster sugar (</span><span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">plus 1tbsp for your glaze)</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">3 eggs</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">2tsp grated lemon zest (2 lemons)</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">1/2tsp pure vanilla extract</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">120 ml vegetable oil</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">255g summer fruits – I used raspberries and blueberries</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">80ml lemon juice (fresh)</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg37pZOjrUqqG0T3tu3sOLSSLs6IsvyCOlx0uPmdBcWm6odB97cCppGKaSZsRdTCUDWvBPryDKxGrAXU6oV3381RVmANDEI9vY-lyp_cyUX-Uph92zTKVgRP1x9lVOqhAH-YipEen4bAjE/s640/yogurt-loaf-cake.JPG" width="640" /><span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Method</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">1). Preheat your oven to 180C and line your loaf tin with baking paper. </span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">2). Into a bowl, s</span><span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">ift 190g flour, as well as your baking powder and salt. </span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">3). Whisk your yogurt, sugar, eggs, lemon zest, vanilla and oil together in another bowl. </span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">4). Fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. </span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">5). Mix your fruit into the remaining flour until completely covered.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">6). Fold the floured fruit into your cake batter. </span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">7). Pour the batter into your loaf tin and bake for about 50mins, or until golden and cooked in the centre.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">8). Whilst your cake is in the oven, cook the lemon juice and tablespoon of sugar in a small pan until the sugar dissolves. Once the mixture is clear, set aside. </span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">9). Allow the cake to cool in the tin for 10mins. Once cooled, stab the cake with a toothpick all over the top and pour the lemon glaze over the cake to allow it to soak in.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">10). Leave to cool and serve.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">The fresh raspberries and blueberries fill the loaf cake with beautiful bursts of colour and flavour, meaning that each bite gives you a variety of flavour.</span><br />

<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">Bristol is all about boats, pubs and good grub and Three Brothers is no exception. They're situated on the harbour and serve the best burgers I've ever had.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Kale crisps are so last summer! My spinach version is super simple and ready in minutes – the perfect healthy alternative for an afternoon snack.</span></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">You will need:</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">A bag of fresh spinach</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Couple sprays of low calorie spray (I used Frylight olive oil)</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Pinch of salt and black pepper</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">I've also experimented with adding other flavours such as rosemary, balsamic vinegar and </span></span><span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">chilli flakes. </span><span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">All are lovely and bring the spinach crisps to a whole other level – worth trying!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Method:</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">1). Simply lay your fresh spinach onto a tray lined with baking paper.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">2). Spray with Frylight and season with your chosen flavours</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">3). Bake at 180C for 15-20 minutes or until crisp</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmanYFEt0tUyup_1zym1_meJEEHZGT9QC1CH3YbMMpLfIcjFpKdWGGC-j-8rcy7mMJLXkOSFKwFcOGFXln4vqzd0IX5NUla9OzkFvTXV0Qhy2oJPZaCEQzJkJ-L3XIpmYSf144gOCF9yw/s640/baked-spinach-crisps.JPG" width="640" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">They only stay crisp for a day so make sure to only bake as many as you'll eat as they go quite limp the next day.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">Let me know if you bake a batch, i'd love to know what flavours you choose! </span><br />

<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Forget buying a box of Pieminister pies, you can now experience the deliciousness of their pies around like-minded pie people. </span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"></span><br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><a href="http://www.luchiacooks.com/2014/05/mums-chicken-bacon-leek-pie.html" target="_blank">Pie</a> and mash (for me) is the holy grail of the savoury world. Accompanied with a thick river of gravy, I couldn't ask for more. </span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">So when I heard they were opening up a <a href="http://www.pieminister.co.uk/restaurants/bristolbroadquay/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">restaurant</a> in the centre of Bristol, I couldn't wait to experience the magic.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">The decor is very urban with metal framing everywhere. It's dark setting is very similar to <a href="http://www.luchiacooks.com/2015/05/a-night-at-ox-bristol.html" target="_blank">The Ox</a> but without the 1920s decor.</span><br />
<img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjg6oWKEHcPHhAA4Nj7QPBHsd-zUlLQCkBgaHcf16p_RaslKa0qsVaHuMb4v8Y68LfPH99SYNcFg8T_Fb0mUkjhvYVjOGw-xuZrMjSUXnt7gyvbWfohK10gNMzb2DSpFL_c0daY6dkM-GA/s640/pieminister-bristol-review.JPG" width="640" /><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">The menu isn't extensive but has all the major players from beef to chicken, as well as their speciality, Matador pie. </span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">The sides won't let you down either with every option you'd ever want. I went for their classic beef pie, mash and mushy peas – perfecto!</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">The pricing for these pies and sides was really reasonable, working out at under £15 for the both of us!</span><br />

<img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidTzolcPOAfsPyLWHa0WVm_xFgLoYy_VtN1KFcBZR6P3O6IWYiqGA9nouBgkB0aMkh4fkWfUJWFdTHHdPsWl0zEEmjAD48lvTbcfQgva3eQ2BXVeES_DBHfU2I0PuEwNQyWrkx9qZ-5Lk/s640/lido-bristol-review.JPG" width="640" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Lido is Bristol's secret spot of paradise. It's got an outdoor pool, hot tub, Pukka Tea spa room and picture perfect restaurant looking over this. I couldn't wait to share this place with you. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"></span></div>
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">The <a href="http://www.lidobristol.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Lido</a> is one of the UK's oldest outdoor pools, dating back to 1849. With a gorgeous renovation in 2008, it's become a much-loved haven for both it's spa facilities and award-winning restaurant.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I took my Mum for her birthday and I can't recommend it enough (although it is quite pricey!). So if you can't afford a day of pampering, it's worth booking yourself into their glasshouse restaurant. </span></div>

<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">I don't know what it is with jars, but being given a gift in a jar is so lovely. So why not make a batch of luscious <a href="http://www.luchiacooks.com/2015/12/how-to-make-homemade-lemon-curd_21.html">lemon curd</a>?
