Who wants one of these bad boys with their cup of tea? Super simple and super tasty to make if you've got someone coming over.
All you need to make 16 are;
100g Unsalted butter (plus extra for greasing)
26g Golden caster sugar
1/2 Tsp vanilla extract
100g Self-raising flour
Optional;
100g Plain chocolate (for decoration)
1). Firstly, preheat oven to 160C and cover 2 baking trays with greaseproof paper.
2). Place butter, sugar and vanilla extract in a bowl and cream until a lovely creamy pale colour. Mix in flour thoroughly and it should become a fairly stiff dough.
3). Place your mixture into a piping bag fitted with a large star nozzle and pipe circles starting from the middle and working your way out.
OR if you want to make Viennese Fingers just pipe 16 fingers at about 6cm long onto your baking tray.
I apologize for my untidy looking left tray my piping bag burst with great timing ruining 3 of my swirls but I feel I recovered well don;t you? hah!
4). Bake these in your oven for 10-15 minutes or until they look a pale golden. Cool for 2-3 minutes in their trays and then carefully onto a cooling rack. I say carefully as my impatience made me break about 5.
5). Now heat your chocolate over a pan of simmering water until completely melted. Remove from heat and dip a spoon into your heavenly delight and wave it over your biscuits to create any design you desire. I went for the good old fashioned messy look.
No denying its homemade then ;)
However if you've chosen to go with the fingers, then just dip both ends into the chocolate and leave to cool and set on your greaseproof paper.
Easy yummy biscuits and I bet you didn't even need to visit the supermarket to make them!
